Thirty years after the opening of the Bonnefanten Museum’s new building in Maastricht, the museum pays tribute to Aldo Rossi with Aldo Rossi: Darling Architecture, an exhibition exploring the complexity of his work and the many languages through which he interpreted architecture. Architect, theorist, writer, illustrator and designer, Aldo Rossi developed a body of work that moved across different scales and disciplines while consistently addressing the cultural and civic role of architecture.

The exhibition also revisits Rossi’s relationship with design and industry. From the early 1980s, his work entered into dialogue with companies including UniFor, translating architectural forms, archetypes and references into objects and systems for everyday life. Within this process, close collaboration with technical expertise and a shared attention to materials played a fundamental role.

For UniFor, the relationship with Aldo Rossi represents an important chapter in a history shaped through direct exchange with leading figures in international architectural culture. A relationship that contributed to consolidating an approach in which architecture, furniture and industrial production are conceived as part of a single design system. Developed in collaboration with Fondazione Aldo Rossi, the exhibition brings together drawings, works, projects and archival materials, highlighting Rossi’s distinctive ability to connect memory, imagination and design.
