White & Case, one of the world's largest law firms, was founded in New York in 1901 and has since expanded its global presence, opening offices in several international cities. The recently expanded UK office is located in a historic district of London, featuring a highly dynamic and international working environment. The spaces, designed by the architectural firm Perkins & Will, are conceived to cater for multiple activities and functions, showcasing meticulous attention to materials and layout.
The spacious, light-filled reception area welcomes visitors with a material combination of marble, stone, and wood panelling, enhanced by LED beams that highlight the textures. The lounge areas echo the same palette of colours and materials, creating a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere. Wood and LEDs also alternate in the corridors, visually guiding the eye from one area to another, with glass façades opening onto the building's interior. The spaces dedicated to work breaks are characterised by warm tones and bright colours, adding energy and visual continuity to the rooms.
Within this context, UniFor was reconfirmed as a partner for the supply of furniture, consolidating a collaboration started in the past with White & Case. For the London office, UniFor provided bespoke furniture to meet the flexibility and privacy needs of its occupants. Different types of workstations have been realised, intended for both open-plan areas and individual offices, known as ‘cellular offices’. The single, double and quadruple workstations in the open space areas are equipped with integrated wardrobe cabinets, drawers and shelvings for storage, complete with LED lighting. A particularly distinctive feature is the design of the four-station benches, separated by a central plug of storage units.
Individual offices have also been designed with height-adjustable desks in various sizes to accommodate various needs. The furniture includes tall cabinets, low wall-mounted storage units, and medium-height dividing cabinets that separate spaces in a fluid and functional manner, integrating elements of ornamental greenery for a touch of nature and well-being.
This project marks a significant expansion of the London offices of the American firm, and confirms UniFor's ability to meet the needs of a global client with innovative, highly functional and flexible design solutions. The six-storey intervention has resulted in modern and versatile workspaces that embody the identity and values of an international brand like White & Case.
