MTM – Made to Measure and Giuditta
Herzog & de Meuron
Milan Design Week 2026

UniFor presents MTM – Made to Measure and Giuditta, two new product families designed by Herzog & de Meuron for Milan Design Week 2026.
Distinct yet complementary, the two systems share a common design approach based on the measured construction of space and on a conscious relationship between architecture, function and material.

MTM – Made to Measure

MTM – Made to Measure is a furniture system composed of tables, benches, sofas, coffee tables and a table tennis version, designed by Herzog & de Meuron. The collection develops from an open constructive principle grounded in a coherent geometry and a scalable structure capable of extending and reconfiguring without losing identity. Measure becomes proportion and adaptability, allowing the system to respond to different contexts without imposing upon them. The entire system is governed by a constant 12° geometry, defining the inclination of the legs and echoed in the bevelled edges of the table tops. The supporting structure consists of four solid wood beams interlocking in three dimensions: a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional castle joint. This structural matrix generates a scalable family of elements. Each piece can expand or contract while maintaining the same structural logic and formal coherence, ensuring continuity across different functions and spatial contexts.

Giuditta

Giuditta is a seating family designed by Herzog & de Meuron, including an indoor chair in walnut and an outdoor version in tubular steel, complemented by a two-seater sofa. The collection evolves from a classical typology originally designed for the bistro at Villa Roccabruna, now part of Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como. The indoor chair, crafted in walnut, features a solid structure and a curved armrest that creates continuity between the backrest and the lateral support, ensuring comfort and stability. The outdoor version translates the same geometry into a polished tubular steel frame designed to guarantee durability and stackability. The family is completed by a two-seater sofa, enabling more articulated compositions in outdoor settings.

Non Places — The Installation

To present the two collections, Studio Klass, UniFor’s creative direction, introduces Non Places as the conceptual framework of the project. Rather than recreating a recognisable environment, the installation recreates an abstract spatial condition in which the products appear as autonomous presences. A curved glass cylinder defines a clear perimeter: a transparent threshold that both reveals and separates the space. Inside, a red pigmented mineral surface forms a primal landscape, while a suspended luminous ellipse establishes the atmospheric dimension of the environment. Within this setting, the furniture elements occupy space with precision and measure, allowing their structural nature to emerge.

An Open Spatial Field

The installation extends beyond the interior space into the outdoor area along Passeggiata Pasternak, where the project becomes an abstract horizontal field. A continuous pigmented surface extends the interior landscape and is marked by graphic lines recalling the logic of a sports field. Within this open framework, the MTM table tennis tables activate the space as a temporary public device encouraging interaction and shared use.

Spazio UniFor
With this project, Spazio UniFor takes shape once again not simply as a showroom, but as a place of experience and knowledge. Through the collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron and the curatorial vision of Studio Klass, UniFor reaffirms a design method based on continuous dialogue between research, architecture and production.
